Amman – the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) marked the green apple day of service in a joint event that was held at Princess Alia High School in cooperation with the Jordan Green Building Council, Greater Amman Municipality, World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), World Food Program (WFP) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Green Apple Day of Service is a global movement to put all children in schools where they have clean and healthy air to breathe, where energy and resources are conserved, and where they can be inspired to dream of a brighter future. The President of JGBC, Eng. Abdullah Bdeir, referred to the goals of “Green Schools” initiative that was launched during the ceremony in partnership with various UN agencies.
Princess Alia School Principal also referred to the efforts of the Ministry of Education to promote students’ environmental skills and knowledge. This event was organized in line with various activities conducted by all related UN agencies for environment preservation under the United Nations Development Assistance Framework in Jordan (UNDAF).
