Accra, 27 July 2016 – The concept plan for the Accra urban extension in Ningo-Prampram, developed by UN-Habitat’s Urban Planning and Design LAB, was approved by the Statutory Planning Authority of the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA).
Johannesburg embraces sustainable planning
Johannesburg, 12 July 2016-- Last week, the City of Johannesburg presented Johannesburg’s Spatial Development Framework 2040 (SDF) at the 2016 South African Planning Institute (SAPI) Conference entitled ‘Planning African Cities’. The Spatial Development Framework elucidates Johannesburg’s spatial vision to become a world-class African city. It was developed through a series of participatory multi-stakeholder workshops (charrettes) facilitated by UN-Habitat’s Urban Planning LAB and Johannesburg’s planning department.
UN-Habitat to announce winner of 'Student Design Competition for Kenya's Towns'
UN-Habitat and Kenya’s Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development are pleased to announce an exhibition of 9 short-listed candidate from 'STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION FOR KENYA’S TOWNS'. The competition was held by UN-Habitat and the Ministry to seek creative planning and design ideas for sustainable urban development in Kenya. The competition was open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the world.
