Nairobi 29 October 2015— UN-Habitat in partnership with the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Secretariat and the European Commission (EC) is holding the second round of the PSUP video competition which will have as its theme “Transforming slums – documenting change in cities in Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific.”
Consequently, participants are being asked to submit their entries immediately before the 3 November deadline for a chance to be selected to attend the seventh edition of the Africities Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, all expenses paid!
Applicants are required to submit documentaries that show positive change in slums and communicate the multiple impacts of participatory slum upgrading. The organisers are looking for outstanding slum upgrading contributions made at community, city and national levels.
In this regard, the participants are expected to present documentaries of “unexpected and indirect change” such as dynamics in the community, new partnerships, business initiatives or governance systems within the city. Selected representatives whose entries are submitted before 3 November 2015 will have the opportunity to attend the 7th Edition of the Africities Summit scheduled to take place in Johannesburg South Africa, from 1- 5 December 2015.
The main award ceremony will take place during the global conference entitled ‘Leading Change in the City: From Slums to Inclusive, Safe, Resilient and Sustainable Cities,’ scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2016. The first round of entries close on 3 November and the second round closes on 15 December 2015. Please read the attached video competition guide for more details.
