NAIROBI, 25 February 2019 – This week Planners for Climate Action (P4CA) a global cooperative initiative convened by UN-Habitat, is launching their new website to engage the global community of planners.

The website will  allow people to discover what P4CA is all about; who they are, what they do, their events and how to get involved and will  be a platform for organizations or individuals to join P4CA.

The website will help P4CA to grow as a global network for planning organizations, professionals, academics and students with the joint goal of helping to deliver climate action through responsible urban and territorial planning. Organization members and individual affiliates will be able to take part  in one or more, of the three key areas of action; 1) Communication, Dissemination & Resource Mobilization 2) Knowledge and Research 3) Education and Capacity Building.

New members will also undertake a mapping exercise which will enable P4CA to map, globally, the current initiatives, projects and programs that are working to integrate climate change into urban and regional planning practice, research and education.

P4CA is also making a global call in collaboration with UN-Habitat UNI (its partnership with universities worldwide) to universities to submit course manuals related to climate change and urban planning. This will lead to a Repository of Syllabi on Urban and Territorial Planning for Climate Change which  will strengthen the engagement of universities with the  education of future planners and professionals on climate change and help future planners and professionals to direct their efforts towards climate action.

As a one-stop hub of course manuals, the repository will help identify available curricula and address the geographical and thematic gaps. The deadline for the call is 30th April 2019. For course manuals to be published online, universities will need to be members of UN-Habitat UNI, which can be achieved by completing an online form.
