Nairobi 23 April 2014—Toptank, a Kenyan tank manufacturing company has donated fifteen hand washing tanks to two schools in Nairobi’s informal settlement of Korogocho. One of the schools Rehema Daycare Orphans Centre is a beneficiary of the Health Promoting Schools (HPS) programme supported by UN-Habitatin partnership with the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) covering twelve primary school in Korogocho to accelerate  water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) coverage in low income urban settlements. Pupils from Rehema Daycare Orphans Centre and Care takers Orphans Centre had the chance to visit the Toptank Company courtesy of UN-Habitat to learn how tanks and other plastic containers are manufactured. The visit was organized as a follow-up to annual World Water Day event that was globally celebrated on 22 March 2014. Toptank is a subsidiary of Tile and Carpets Group of Companies and is an ISO certified plastic product manufacturing plants based in Kenya. It is one of the private companies collaborating with UN-Habitat in promoting WASH programme demonstrations within low income urban settlements Ibrahim Gusheng’a a standard six pupil from Rehema Daycare Orphans Centre said: “We are glad that the handwashing tanks donated to us by TopTank will enhance what UN-Habitat, Cadbury and African Population Health Research Centre had put up in our school. I am happy because l will have more water in the school.”
