The President of the UN General Assembly has called for a one-day High-Level Meeting on 28 April 2022 to bring more attention to the New Urban Agenda and countries' more robust commitment to it. UN-Habitat has been working with regional, national, and local authorities across the continents to help them with expertise and capacity building. New York, 29 April 2022 - The Government of Poland, the City of Katowice and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the organisers of the Eleventh Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11), are ready to receive participants in Katowice as scheduled on 26-30 June 2022.

New York, 26 April 2022 – UN-Habitat, the Busan Metropolitan City of the Republic of Korea, and OCEANIX today unveiled at the UN Headquarters the design of the world’s first prototype sustainable floating city. OCEANIX Busan aims to provide breakthrough technology for coastal cities facing severe land shortages that are compounded by climatic threats.
Madrid, Spain, 27 April 2022 - More than 120 cities and towns in Spain are implementing Local Action Plans under the Spanish Urban Agenda, following the principles of the New Urban Agenda, to become more sustainable, inclusive, safe and resilient, for the benefit of more than 8.5 millions of people.
Havana, Cuba, 27 April 2022--During Habitat III Conference in Quito Ecuador, held in October 2016, Cuba adopted the New Urban Agenda as a guide to define the priority actions on territorial and urban development in the country. Cuba has assumed the commitment to guide its national and local urban plans based on this Global Agenda.
New York, 27 April 2022 - A special event on Affordable Housing and Ending Homelessness was held in the framework of the High-Level Meeting Week on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
This meeting builds on the momentum generated by the resolution “Inclusive policies and programmes to address homelessness, including in the aftermath of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which was tabled by Algeria, Djibouti, Madagascar and Senegal on behalf of the African Group and adopted in January 2022 at the General Assembly.
With six in 10 people expected to be living in cities by the end of the decade, the UN General Assembly met on Thursday to examine progress towards implementing a 2016 framework on sustainable urbanization.
New York, 9 May 2022 - Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are highly exposed and vulnerable to disasters and climate risks, accounting for two-thirds of the countries with the highest relative annual disaster losses. With a narrow revenue base, SIDS cities face unprecedented and mounting environmental, economic, and social challenges as climate emergencies grow in severity.
