This end-of-project evaluation report provides the performance of the Water for Africa Cities (WAC) Dar es Salaam Project. The project was initiated in 2003 in response to the Tanzania Government request and as part of UN-HABITAT’s overall Programme on Managing Water for African Cities.
The project was designed as a pilot/demonstration and was implemented through existing local institutions so as to strengthen their capacities and establish structures and systems for sustainability and best practices for scaling up. It was sponsored by SIDA, through an agreement with UN-HABITAT, for Phase I of a 3- year implementation period. The total investment in this project was about one million dollars including US$ 708, 510 from SIDA, the main sponsor of the project.
